About our client
Our client is a billion dollar financial services institution.
Position Location
Senior Business Systems Analyst Downtown, Toronto
Salary
$60K to $72K
Responsibilities
1) Provide consulting services to business partners on new initiatives (small to large of varying complexity).
2) Develop proposals for small to medium projects.
3) Lead detailed requirement phases identifying, tracking, escalating and/or resolving business systems issues.
4) Assess, research, analyze and document sponsor/stakeholder needs in accordance with Project Life Cycle and CMM deliverables utilizing reporting tools, requirements. Identify, track and resolve business systems issues.
5) Recommend business solutions that satisfy sponsor/stakeholder needs continually exploring and assessing options for value-add for clients.
6) Determine best mix of development together with Project Manager, interfacing applications, third party vendor solutions to meet business requirements and project objectives.
7) Ensure adequate end-user documentation and training. Contribute to successful project completion within budget and on time by identifying risks and developing/recommending mitigation strategies.
8) Develop detailed plans and accurate estimates for completion of Requirements and Acceptance phases of projects
9) Develop test plans and execute testing including leading the systems and acceptance testing by facilitating participation of appropriate staff in project completion.
10) Develop criteria for and participate in the evaluation of 3rd party vendors and software as well as due diligence exercises.
11) Manage the detail aspects of day-to-day operations with 3rd party vendors.
12) Effectively communicate and build rapport with team members, stakeholders and business partners using a variety of techniques and collaboration from initiation to close.
13) Facilitate small to large meetings and conduct information gathering sessions (e.g. JAD).
14) Prepare and deliver presentations to business partners and senior management, selecting the appropriate approach based on the audience.
15) Resolve conflicts/issues of medium complexity and escalate others as appropriate.
16) Act as team leader and provide direction, expertise, feedback, coaching and development to build the capability of more junior staff.
17) Continually enhance skills and build knowledge in all aspects of the organization, the business and information systems.

    Education/Experience
  • At least 5 years of Business Systems Analysis experience within IT group for a large company

    Process Knowledge
  • Solid knowledge of business specification writing and requirements methods: interviewing, data modeling, business process modeling, business object modeling and user interface design
  • Different requirement methodologies: Use Cases
  • Quality Controls
  • Cost/Benefit Analysis & alternatives identification
  • Risk Assessment & Quantification methodologies
  • Experience with conflicts and issues resolution and escalation
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment

    Business Knowledge
  • Knowledge of ADP applications/processes
  • Has a good understanding of the business functions and relevant core processes for mutual funds trading as well as the Fundserve interface to fund companies
  • Investment industry knowledge and experience a definite asset – Canadian Securities Course is a definite asset

    Systems Knowledge
  • Windows based technology -NET and Microsoft Visual Studio applications built on their own infrastructure and interfaces to other systems

  • Proficient with personal computer productivity tools such as Microsoft Office, MS Project and technical design tools including Visio

    People Management Knowledge
  • Talent Management process (performance management, performance development/coaching, reward/recognition)
