Position Location
Accounting Manager Toronto, Ontario
Responsibilities
1) Manage and participate in all aspects of the accounting/reporting lifecycle, and supervise the Accounting Team
2) Oversee month-end, quarter-end, year-end activities, recovery calculations, and AP and AR activities
3) Conduct financial examinations, analyze records, review financial statements/reports, variance analysis, reconciliation in advance of distribution to the Sr. Accounting Manager, Controller and Alliance Director
4) Respond to queries
5) Ensure integrity of financial records, analysis/reports, and provide recommendations to the Sr. Accounting Manager
6) Coordinate with Sr. Accounting Manager to ensure proper control procedures are in place and adhered to
7) Manage in an efficient and effective manner and ensure the accountability relationships are reasonably served
8) Participate in budgeting, planning, forecasting and review
9) Apply appropriate policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in preparation/analysis/reconciliation of financial statements and reports
10) Provide input to the development of department policies and procedures
11) Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
1) Post secondary education in a relevant discipline and supervisory level experience in real estate accounting preferably in commercial properties
2) Accounting designation such as CA, CGA or CMA an asset
3) Demonstrated experience in preparing, comprehending, analyzing, interpreting and communicating financial information
4) Seasoned experience in property management; dealing with tenant recoveries, operational cost audits and other tenant related matters
5) A high level of commitment to customer service
6) Proficiency in MS Excel mandatory; familiarity with PeopleSoft / JDE an asset
7) Strong ability to reason in absence of “all” the information
8) Strong verbal and written communication skills
