About our client

Position Location
Property Accountant Downtown, Toronto
Salary
$45K - $55K
Responsibilities
1) Maintain all accounting records, including general ledger, books of journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, working paper files, etc.
2) Check appropriateness of the Purchase Order System to ensure that it is operating in accordance with the company policies and procedures
3) Supervise the Revenue Accountant to ensure appropriateness/validity of all tenants adjustments, timeliness of bank and rent roll reconciliation, and posting of monthly rolls
4) Coordinate with the accounts payable/revenue accountant/management office to ensure that appropriate monthly cutoff procedures are applied for payables and revenues
5) Ensure monthly reconciliation of control accounts (accounts receivable, accounts payable, last month’s rent, LMR interest) to subsidiary ledgers/detailed balances
6) Prepare monthly reporting packages (financial statements, actual to budget analysis, operations report, and balance sheet analysis) on a timely basis
7) Prepare and file the goods and services tax returns and the annual budget package
8) Handle the preparation of the annual budget package, including co-ordination with other departments for receipt of budget-data on a timely basis
9) Prepare the annual year-end audit working papers and liaise with the auditors during the fieldwork period
10) Review the reports and procedures of the Collection Department in relation to their effect on accounts receivable balances
11) Advise the Supervisor on collection-related problems
12) Oversee/coordinate with off-site management office to resolve operational matters requiring attention of the head-office and/or effecting the integrity of the accounting data and financial reporting
Requirements
1) Minimum 2 years of accounting experience in a similar position/level
2) CGA/CMA enrolled (4th or 5th level) preferred
4) Self-directed with an ability to take initiatives
4) Strong problem-solving abilities
5) Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment
6) Detailed-oriented
