Controller
Responsibilities
1) Manage accounting functions and prepare reports and statistics detailing financial results 2) Establish and maintain accounting practices to ensure accurate and reliable data necessary for business operations 3) Supervise 3 – 4 intermediate accountants
4) Ensure that the financial accounting portfolio of properties is as per
procedures and policies
5) Supervise and train 3 to 4 staff members
6) Review, approve and release all journal entries for Accounts Payable and
Accounts Receivable 7) Maintain attendance and vacation schedules of staff 8) Manage any staff issues & prepare annual reviews 9) Co-ordinate with other Accounting Managers for consolidation of data 10) Present any procedure & policy changes 11) Sign cheques – 1st signature on LMR Interest cheques, 2nd signature on AP cheque – limit restrictions to follow 12) Ensure resolution of held invoices and POs older than 60 days 13) Co-ordinate Government reports – MPAC, Tenant Rebates and AGI 14) Conduct due diligence analysis and review work assigned to staff
15) Co-ordinate and set-up on AS400 new acquisitions
16) Deal with auditors on a quarterly basis 17) Co-ordinate daily banking and
bank reconciliations
18) Approve invoices without original invoice and/or purchase order for
properties completed by staff
19) Ensure prompt payment of invoices to ensure late fees are not incurred 20) Review and approve all monthly rent roll reconciliations 21) Maintain listing of commercial leases – co-ordinate w/DM on renewals and updates system
22) Review and approve manual invoices 23) Maintain Assistant & Building Manager move-ins and move-outs 24) Approve and release N1 25) Review and approval of LMR interest schedules 26) Sign off on quarterly rent rolls reported by corporate 27) Review and approve all JE before release 28) Produce consolidated variance analysis 29) Review and approve monthly F/S packages from staff (all schedules, account analysis & variance analysis).
30) Co-ordinate quarterly and year-end requirements 31) Review all adjustments requiring Restricted Changes (RVI) before presenting to Assistant Controller/Controller 32) Co-ordinate distribution of monthly income statements to Operations 33) Review and approve budget packages and monthly allocation of annual budgets
Requirements
1) Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business 2) Accounting designation (preferred)
