| Responsibilities |
1) Prepare transactions related to accounting and budgets 2) Make changes to chart of accounts (and participate in creation of same) while maintaining comparability between accounting periods and reports 3) Implement departmental budgets (and participate in creation of same) in the accounting system 4) Modify (not necessary to create) dynamic financial models in Excel 5) Assist in developing and maintaining all necessary accounting policies and systems including general ledger and financial reporting 6) Ensure records are maintained as per Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) 7) Handle payroll in conjunction with third party processor 8) Oversee vendor relations. 9) Analyze company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs, and compliance with budgets 10) Issue regular status reports to the CFO including, but not limited to cash position reports, accounts receivable and accounts payable report, accounts receivable and accounts payable reports, cash flow forecasts as per established template, departmental budget variance reports, and ad hoc analysis 11) Presents findings and recommendations to senior management 12) Handle responsibilities related to first approval and processing of expense reports 13) Investigate and report recommendations on material expense items/categories 14) Coordinate year-end audits, prepare quarterly and annual reports, and/or prepare tax schedules and returns 15) Ensure that accounting policies and procedures meets all accounting regulations |
| Requirements |
1) Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting, CGA, or equivalent desirable 2) Excellent knowledge of all accounting functional areas 3) Thorough knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements in the Canadian public company environment 4) Excellent time management, communication, decision-making, presentation, human relations, and organizational skills 5) Knowledge of PCs, financial spreadsheet and accounting software |
