About our client
Our client is a leading full service accounting firm
Position Location
Audit Manager Orange County/Los Angeles, California
Salary Reports to
$85K – $110K, $95K – $120K Assurance & Advisory Partner(s)
Responsibilities
1) Handle all phases of an audit, compilation, or review engagement
2) Maintain contact with clients throughout the year and keep abreast of the client and all facets of client’s business
3) Demonstrate thorough knowledge and proficiency in advanced technical skills necessary for advising clients
4) Plan and schedule engagements using company policies and procedures
5) Maintain familiarity with qualifications of all staff members as well as review staff assignments for appropriateness
6) Prepare engagement letters for approval by Partner
7) Evaluate internal controls and work programs prepared by staff
8) Adhere to engagement time budgets
9) Supervise staff and provide on-the-job training
10) Reviews work papers and reports prepared by staff
11) Anticipate problem areas of engagement and questions that will arise
12) Keep Partner informed of all the important developments on engagement
13) Analyze problems and recommends solutions
14) Adhere to accurate and timely billing and collection processes are made
15) Ensure that financial statements, reviews, and letters of recommendation are prepared in accordance with professional and company standards
16) Communicate progress of engagements, problems, and resolutions to client
17) Work to develop responsible, trained staff by assisting in performance evaluations
18) Prepare invoices to clients, communicate details of fees to clients, and assist in collection of overdue accounts
19) Maintain knowledge of the company philosophy and its opinions on financial matters
20) Keep abreast of general economic and political trends of possible audit or other legislation that could affect the business climate
21) Work to develop responsible, trained staff by assisting in recruiting, developing training aids, and acting as an instructor in professional development programs
22) Participate in the firm’s practice development efforts
23) Promote the most efficient operations of the company and supports compliance guidelines in managing others
24) Prepare other reports and projects as requested from time to time by the Partners
25) Perform such other duties as may be assigned
Requirements
1) 5 – 7 years of experience in public accounting, demonstrating a proven progression in complexity, scope, and number of engagements managed
2) Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory position
3) Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
4) Minimum 40 hours of continuing professional education is required each year to maintain and develop technical and business skills
5) Current and valid CPA’s license is required
6) Outstanding oral and written communication skills
7) Excellent interpersonal skills
8) Demonstrated ability to bring in new business to a CPA Firm
9) Proficient in computers, computer accounting software, and tax software programs
10) Ability to organize work and projects, prioritize and meet deadlines, and to complete work in an efficient and accurate manner
11) Ability to reason and effectively multi-task
