| Responsibilities |
1) Coordinate all major customer-related issues 2) Analyze and evaluate quality data with a view to respecting financial and quality objectives 3) Provide guidance to the employees of the department so that that variation and waste within the processes are reduced 4) Develop and structure the activities of the Quality Department so that the objectives established by management as expressed in the Quality Manual are attained 5) Provide guidance in a way that continuous improvement is demonstrated and maintained, defects are prevented and problems are irreversibly corrected 6) Manage the overall quality control system and use authority to act in all project quality matters 7) Ensure all processes have been developed as per customers’ specifications 8) Complete special assignments as required by the Plant Manager 9) Ensure all customer specifications are met 10) Maintain accurate and timely quality system reporting and files 11) Ensure development and adherence to company quality systems 12) Participate with the Management Team (Operations, supervisor and foremen) 13) Ensure that the project is being "brain stormed" and built on profitability 14) Review documents, reports and tests for compliance to contract requirements 15) Approve deficiency reports and corrective actions 16) Prepare quality control record with the management 17) Direct activities of supplemental Quality Control Technical Specialists 18) Communicate with the Production Management Team daily 19) Train and coach employees, monitor and control employee performance against established objectives 20) Work with other internal and corporate departments to resolve problems and facilitate planning 21) Make final decisions on quality-related issues with high financial or customer impact 22) Follow and enforce company policy regarding all health and safety and environmental procedures 23) Follow up on quality documentation, such as correspondence, transmittals, submittal logs, memos, daily diary, meeting minutes and daily reports 24) Make sure this information is being kept current and filed current, in an organized manner, as per the internal company procedures 25) Conduct pre-bid vendor/supplier quality audit 26) Analyze competition and market trends so that opportunities come in as opposed to a ‘price check’ 27) Know several strategies to maximize potential profits (LS, schedule of values, past pricing, RS Means, etc.) 28) Know the scope of work and pricing structure so that extras and deducts can maximize overall profitability of the project 29) Assist estimators in reviewing bids and developing bid strategies to win profitable work 30) Make sure that the Estimator is using accurate history cost control 31) Participate in internal kickoff meeting 32) Make sure all information required by the customer is corrected and returned promptly, so the project is not delayed 33) Participate in the bi-weekly financial review CTC meeting 34) Make sure the detailers do not just push submittals through without analyzing and minimizing the cost repercussions to the company 35) Present any information to the Production Team that may add value to the CTC process 36) Pursue letters of accommodations and project awards 37) Report detailed information, photos, current percent complete, project values, minority plan status, etc. to Marketing 38) Support pre-qualification efforts with Marketing in a timely fashion 39) Conduct Subordinate reviews 40) Participate in college recruiting with the Director of Human Resources 41) Participate in summer intern recruiting with the Director of Human Resources 42) Execute recognition, disciplinary and termination reports 43) Manage subordinate basic training schedules 44) Hold post-job review meeting with Production Management and Estimating 45) Have a full understanding of the A/P process from the purchase order to check run 46) Understand and be able to use the company ERP System to assist vendors and subcontractors in determining payment status 47) Maintain Project Specific Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) Book and ensure that all materials delivered to the site have an MSDS sheet on site 48) Be fully aware of the company’s Safety Manual and its policy and procedures 49) Post in project field office all emergency phone numbers and hospital routes as well as all required OSHA logs and posters 50) Participate in daily toolbox meeting and schedule meetings |
| Requirements |
1) University or technical degree in engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience
2) 5 years of experience in manufacturing 3) Understanding of quality systems management, international and industry standards 4) Ability to lead and run a complex project greater than $5M in value or a series of projects simultaneously with an aggregated value greater than $10M 5) Thorough understanding of engineering and cost-tracking systems 6) Demonstrated success in project management 7) Trained in ERP Systems and fully competent in their operations 8) Excellent organizational & people skills 9) Ability to perform several tasks simultaneously & meet deadlines 10) Excellent research skills and problem-solving skills 11) Ability to follow and give directions & see tasks through completion 12) Ability to understand customers needs and incorporate them into the system 13) Thorough knowledge of MS Office suite 14) Excellent communication and presentation skills |
