Position Location
Project Manager – Transmission Lines Alberta
Salary Reports to
Highly competitive package, commensurate with experience Vice President
Responsibilities
1) Handle estimation and pre-construction services and organization, planning and execution of projects procured
2) Perform project management and operation of work crews for Transmission Division
3) Establish and maintain relationships with key clients and customers
4) Work with the VP of Operations, conduct marketing efforts and business development of the Transmission Projects Division, out of the Alberta office
5) Identify, pursue and develop transmission projects leads and market opportunities
6) Negotiate and, with the assistance and approval of VP of Operations, secure transmission construction projects
7) Assist in networking and marketing of the corporation to owners, consultants and other clients
8) Plan transmission projects, including profitability, effective project management, costing, risk management, etc., all in accordance with company policies, procedures and processes
9) Assist in planning and business development for the corporation by identifying, following up and pursuing project leads and market opportunities in all work divisions
10) Collaborate with Estimating Department in preparing tenders and proposals as required and as appropriate
11) Provide recommendations on project methods, materials, equipment and systems
12) Keep abreast of and advise VP of Operations and clients on personnel issues, the labor market, potential union activity, legislation, regulations, insurance issues and other project risks
13) Lead all project site staff including field supervisors, foremen and individual workers
14) Determine project staffing requirements and assist in recruiting strategies and implementation, evaluations and wage reviews
15) Organize and supervise all site staff, subcontractors, equipment and materials in the most efficient and expedient manner to maximize efficiency and profitability
16) Monitor jobs progress, availability of personnel, equipment requirements, job morale, adequacy of work force and subcontractor performance
17) Ensure maintenance of quality standards and compliance with job requirements and specifications
18) Review job costs and schedules with field supervision and enact remedial action if/as required
19) Assist in reviewing and analyzing project status reports, cost reports, and schedules
20) Provide projections, forecast and direction to accounting and administration regarding projects and related matters.
21) Foster team spirit and camaraderie among staff to achieve an efficient and productive performance
22) Pursue accounts receivables for payment actively
23) Initiate any extraordinary collections proceedings if necessary and after consultation with senior management
24) Review and approve for payment, material supply and subcontract invoices prior to submission for processing and payment
25) Prepare and submit weekly reports to senior management
26) Provide input to monthly and other reports as required
27) Participate in employee development program (KPI)
28) Display professional conduct with both internal and external customers
29) Participate and co-operate with fellow team members within the organization
30) Provide customer service (internal and external) effectively
Requirements
1) P. Eng. or Registered Technologist certification, or technical trade certification (Power Lineman)
2) Minimum15 years of related experience, including field operations, field project management and overhead transmission lines
3) Knowledge of compliance with company policies and procedures
4) Demonstrated commitment to all facets of the role
5) Demonstrated technical ability in applying appropriate processes and procedures
6) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
7) Ability to work as part of a team, take charge and exhibit leadership where necessary
8) Ability to develop and grow professionally
9) Ability to organize, prioritize, manage time, schedule and delegate
10) Ability to work with stability under pressure, crisis situations and deadlines
