To get a better idea of just what a hiring manager wants, once you get the critical criteria, ask these questions to better understand what is really needed:
- Why is that qualification vital? You want know why a requirement is critical to a hired candidate's success.
- Why does it need to be filled and in what timeframe? Many HR people are satisfied with just getting an open position to work on, but the best ones want to understand why the hire is truly important to the business.
- Why is the job sellable? Learning the specific growth path for a role and why someone would want this job can help you market the job better and attract the right caliber of job seekers.

At the recent Traceability InterOperability Conference hosted by the Traceability Institute in Denver, Colorado, a few weeks ago, there was a strong call for a single traceability standard. The main barrier to widespread traceability adoption by the food industry was the lack of a single traceability standard which could exchange traceability data seamlessly from one company to another throughout all their trading partners in a supply chain.

With the record snowfalls experienced by folks in the Mid-Atlantic States this past week, I am reminded of an inspection visit that I made several years ago to a small Midwestern food processing facility during the winter season. There had been a heavy snowfall for the two days prior to my visit. However, on the day of the inspection, the roads were clear and the plant was in full operation. |
