About our client
Our client is a leading North American Bakery expanding its business worldwide. The company has state-of-the-art manufacturing plants and distribution facilities across the US.
Position Location
Director R&D, Frozen Michigan
Salary Reports to
Commensurate with experience Management
Responsibilities
1) Plan and direct R&D activities for strategic projects, core business, new product development and efficiency improvements
2) Identify in conjunction with marketing and engineering management, promising areas of research or technology that address unmet needs and have large potential markets
3) Communicate to senior management and board of directors, overview of all products under development, and their stage of development
4) Plan and formulate aspects of R&D proposals such as objective or purpose of project, applications that can be utilized from findings, costs of project, and equipment and human resource requirements
5) Review and analyze proposals submitted to determine if benefits derived and possible applications justify expenditures
6) Approve and submit proposals considered feasible to management for consideration and allocation of funds, or allocate funds from department budget
7) Develop and implement methods and procedures for monitoring projects and keep management informed of current status of each project
8) Negotiate collaborations with academia, government, and corporations
9) Negotiate contracts with consulting firms to perform research studies
10) Keep abreast of developments within the food industry through reading, seminars, etc.
11) Manage supervisors who manage employees in R&D Lab
12) Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization's policies and applicable laws
Requirements
1) Degree (4 year) mandatory
2) Must have strong R&D background in management/leadership role
3) Experience in frozen products (bakery)
4) Must have bakery background – preferably in cakes & danishes
5) Minimum 10-30 years’ experience
