| Responsibilities |
1) Confirm reliability of plant equipment 2) Establish and meet downtime and operational goals per shift for fabrication, slaughter areas, warehousing, and wastewater treatment, etc. 3) Motivate interest in, and insure compliance with, stringent plant safety programs 4) Maintain high levels of labor efficiency and effectiveness in responding to breakdowns and plant interruptions 5) Actively involve maintenance personnel in HAACP reviews and insure their expertise is used to improve food safety wherever applicable 6) Develop appreciation for overall plant performance issues in all employees within the department 7) Assist Plant VP in assuring continuous plant improvement 8) Insure reliable and cost effective operation of utility systems that are on line continuously 9) Develop capital investment ideas that support overall plant profitability and develop and maintain organizational capability to accomplish these projects 10) Develop and maintain contractors and vendors to supplement plant resources and represent company in dealing with outside firms 11) Evaluate performance of superintendents and foreman and take corrective or remedial action as needed 12) Represent entire plant's needs and point of view in discussions with corporate engineering 13) Develop and grow relationship with the USDA to insure their requirements are met 14) Participate in the negotiation of and administration of the union contract |
| Requirements |
1) BS in Mech. or Elect. Engineering or 5 additional years of applicable experience 2) At least 10 years of progressively more responsible positions within industrial maintenance field 3) Minimum 5 years’ experience within food processing industry 4) Food or beverage industry experience 5) Extensive background in ammonia refrigeration, steam generation, air compressor technology, chain drives, all types of conveying systems, variable frequency motor controls, maintenance of sanitary conditions 6) Ready to work extended hours 7) 5+ years in Plant Engineer or Maintenance Manager position |
