| Responsibilities |
1) Develop new functional food ingredients and test functional (texture, viscosity, water binding, heat stability, emulsification, etc.) food properties 2) Conduct lab testing for chemical and functional properties 3) Write reports on test results 4) Work with customers on development issues 5) Test new products for flavor, texture, color, nutritional content as well as adherence to government and industry standards 6) Check raw ingredients for maturity or stability for processing as well as finished products for safety, quality and nutritional value
7) Study methods to improve aspects of foods such as, chemical composition, flavor, color, texture, nutritional value and convenience
8) Confer with process engineers, plant operators, flavor experts as well as packaging and marketing specialists to resolve problems in product development 9) Study the structure and composition of food, or the changes foods undergo in storage and processing 10) Develop new or improved ways of preserving, processing, packaging, storing and delivering foods, using knowledge of chemistry, microbiology and other sciences 11) Demonstrate products to clients |
| Requirements |
1) MS with 5 years of research experience (or Ph.D. with 2 years of research experience) 2) Experience in functional food ingredients with a strong research (in chemistry/microbiology) background 3) Superb communication, interpersonal and leadership skills |
