About our client
Our client is a publicly owned manufacturer of snacks and confectionery products. The company has been in operation for more than 25 years and has annual sales of over $4B.
Position Location
Packaging Development Engineer Nearest Metro City: Hershey, PA
Salary Reports to
Highly competitive package, commensurate with experience Management
Responsibilities
1) Review, recommend, test and assist with implementing various proposals for package designing
2) Obtain and communicate necessary information with Plant Engineering, Marketing, Product Development, Processing, etc.
3) Generate information and contact various suppliers for estimates, suggestions or information
4) Test packaging systems in the laboratory, pilot plant and production facilities
5) Manage (under limited supervision) assigned projects, through planning, organizing and coordinating projects, to ensure required deadlines are met
6) Maintain current knowledge of developments and trends in packaging for application to company's present as well as future products
7) Review trade journals
8) Participate in professional societies
9) Attend trade shows and seminars
10) Consult suppliers and visit their facilities
11) Work with buyers and other team members to implement and apply company's quality processes
12) Maintain packaging specifications
13) Provide packaging bill of materials to plants
14) Update database with necessary packaging information
15) Provide finished goods specifications for entering into SAP
Requirements
1) Degree (4 year) Packaging/Mechanical Engineer
2) Knowledge of packaging design
3) Ability to liaise with Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing and the management
