About our client
Our client is a privately owned manufacturer of authentic, ethnic food products. The company has been in operation for more than 25 years and has annual sales of over $50M.
Position Location
Vice President, Operations Nearest Metro City: Wilmington, CA
Salary Reports to
Highly competitive package, commensurate with experience Management
Responsibilities
1) Plan, direct and coordinate all plant(s) and supply chain operations
2) Ensure functions are carried out at optimum cost, in a safe operating environment, consistent with quality guidelines and regulatory requirements
3) Emphasize continuous improvement in all areas of duty
4) Manage all operations and relations (Production, Logistics, QA, Engineering and Purchasing)
5) Direct maintenance or physical condition of the plant through systematic program of repairs or through capital projects
6) Supervise and initiate action to operate within budgets
7) Regularly review all operations to measure progress against standards
8) Maintain uninterrupted production and ensure product quality
9) Develop and improve production methods, layout, equipment and techniques
10) Conduct continuous cost-reduction programs (support of ROI and other payback measurement programs as well as analysis)
11) Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations issued by federal, state and local regulatory agencies
12) Integrate new products into the manufacturing process
13) Provide direction to the Co-Packer Relations Team and assist in identifying co-packing partners and process improvements
14) Support all safety initiatives
15) Develop an effective organization through selection, training, coaching and mentoring of personnel
16) Act as a member of the upper-level management environment with the help of the CEO, Finance and shareholders
17) Assist in identifying, selecting and presenting to the Board, opportunities for joint venture, strategic alliances and/or acquisitions in domestic and international locations
18) Develop and implement Lean Manufacturing concepts
19) Perform other projects (as needed) and collaborate with the CEO and executive members on business and strategic matters
20) Direct and support the preparation of Operations’ annual and quarterly budgets
Requirements
1) 10 – 15 years of experience in the food industry with Lean Manufacturing and ISO as well as materials management (from planning to purchasing and third party manufacturers)
2) Background in company growth through acquisition, plant relocation and/or expansion and consolidation along with experience in strategic planning, multiple sites and high-speed canning lines
3) Energetic individual with excellent communication skills (oral and written) along with ability to effectively interface with all levels (knowledge of Spanish preferred)
