About our client
Our client is a privately owned manufacturer of food and beverage products. The company has been in operation for more than 10 years and has multi-million dollar annual revenue.
Position Location
Corporate Controller Nearest Metro City: Toronto, ON
Salary Reports to
Highly competitive package, commensurate with experience VP Finance
Responsibilities
1) Supervise Accounting staff in all areas of accounting discipline in accordance with GAAP including general ledger, accounts receivable and payable as well as cash receipts/deposits
2) Lead the Accounting staff in cash disbursements, bank reconciliation, payroll, cost accounting, special projects, reporting and internal management, etc.
3) Oversee external preparation of reports to be reviewed by the Management
4) Ensure financial statements are completed and distributed in a timely manner.
5) Implement efficient systems/processes to facilitate efficient, accurate and timely processing of transactions
6) Handle reporting for various taxes
7) Supervise and develop the Accounting staff through effective training, setting priorities and performance management
8) Evaluate the best approaches to implementing and fostering a ‘service mentality’ from the corporate office to each of the company’s locations
9) Develop the Administrative staff at each of the company’s locations through consistent communication and training
10) Ensure that all accounting processes (and other processes where there is access to cash and/or other liquid assets) have adequate controls to prevent misappropriation of assets and intentional misstatements of financial reporting
11) Oversee the design, implementation and continual updating of accounting and reporting software
12) Provide real-time access to relevant data by appropriate operating management personnel
13) Oversee productive use of Opportunity Markets Program to eliminate extra process steps
14) Manage bank compliance and oversee monthly financial statements, debt covenant compliance, borrowing base calculations, letters of credit and management of ‘float’ and line of credit
15) Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of annual budgets for all entities
16) Assist in the preparation of a consolidated annual budget as a roll-up of the individual entities
Requirements
1) Degree (4 year)
2) Experience in working in a multi unit food or food service environment
3) Strong communication with all levels of the organization as well as superb leadership and personnel management skills
