About our client
Our client is a privately owned animal feed/grain-milling manufacturer. The company has been in operation for over 25 years and has an annual sales revenue of more than $450M.
Position Location
Commodity Merchandiser Nearest Metro City: Wendell, ID
Salary Reports to
Highly competitive package, commensurate with experience Management
Responsibilities
1) Manage trading activities of various commodities to ensure maximization of company's gross margins
2) Develop quarterly/yearly tonnage, gross margin and net margin objectives for the Idaho commodities group
3) Manage the company's merchandising of various feed ingredients and the risk position in these commodities within position limits established by management
4) Manage the company's economic exposure to bad debt and maintains credit exposure under limits set by finance.
5) Monitor shrink/gains and work with Operations and Nutrition Group managers to minimize/maximize economic impact
6) Manage Operations, Sales, and Transportation costs with in the various commodities and work with management in respective departments to optimize efficiency and customer service
7) Work closely with internal trading groups on pricing, market evaluation, arbitration opportunities, and economic impacts of Idaho commodities.
8) Create monthly P & L estimates for the Idaho commodities group location.
9) Create and evaluate financial analysis (justification) personnel additions relating to the Idaho commodities group.
10) Monitor competitive product group marketing strategies and develop effective programs to ensure competitive advantage for the company.
Requirements
1) B.S. Degree with 2-4 years commodity trading experience required
2) Must have a positive attitude and ability to motivate staff and customers
3) Proven ability to understand commodity markets in general, futures and cash markets
4) Proven ability to understand grain flows, freight markets, and market opportunities
5) Proven ability to professionally manage customer relationships
