About our client
Our client is a privately owned manufacturer of food and beverage products.

Quality Systems Manager California
Salary Reports to
Highly competitive package, commensurate with experience Vice President of Administration
Responsibilities
1) Plan, direct, oversee and improve quality systems and processes across the company
2) Define requirements for the quality management of suppliers
3) Improve processes which are aligned and integrated with operational activities for existing systems and products
4) Ensure quality systems and processes are in full alignment with customer expectations and requirements
5) Oversee the results of all quality systems
6) Ensure effective change management and drive continuous process improvement
7) Support the site implementation of all new products, line extensions and continuous quality improvement projects
8) Manage all QA, sanitation, technical services and laboratory functions for the company
9) Oversee the maintenance of all quality, sanitation, pest control, etc. as well as testing, reporting and corrective actions within all production processes
10) Provide direction for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of all quality systems
11) Ensure that all products produced by and for the company are safe for consumption and conform to the intended product design
12) Manage change management and process improvement as the quality champion
13) Certify co-packer and ingredient supplier quality management systems annually
14) Support the implementation of all new products, line extensions and continuous quality improvement projects in-partnership with the Manufacturing Division and New Product Team
15) Ensure the effective execution of line trials and execution of process capability evaluations
16) Oversee compliance with all third party standards the company participates in like organic certification (domestic/foreign), Non-GMO Project, AIB, FDA, USDA, etc.
17) Provide technical support and training to Production and support departments as they develop, implement and sustain quality systems for their own department’s function
18) Perform process capability and process improvement studies as well as assist in the implementation of corporate driven quality standards
19) Provide data analysis of in-process, finished product, and consumer complaints issues and implement corrective and preventive actions
20) Present quality trend data on a team level for the purpose of informing and problem solving
21) Take the lead role in improvement opportunities
22) Coach and support process improvement teams/individuals and department Team Members
23) Investigate raw material issues, document non-conformities as well as review and approve monthly non-conformance report
24) Assist in the improvement and implementation of the raw material inspection program
25) Serve as the Team Leader of the company’s Product Recall Team
26) Maintain and update the recall plan on a regular basis as well as conduct at least semi-annual mock recalls
27) Oversee staff safety, security, morale and direction with the aid of the HR Manager and Safety Manager
28) Ensure that rules and regulations are followed as outlined in the employee policies and procedures manual, injury illness prevention plan and other policies established by the company and conduct meetings
29) Adhere to safety programs in order to provide a safe and clean workplace for employees within the regulations of all OSHA local and state regulations
30) Maintain the safety of equipment
31) Provide preventive maintenance and training programs and oversee all necessary repairs as needed
32) Serve as back-up to VP of Administration for the company’s Crisis Communication Program
33) Develop operating and capital budgets and establish long-range operating goals
34) Monitor and operate within the budget
35) Lead the implementation of continuous improvement process
36) Develop programs and lead the training of personnel in continuous improvement tools and team formation skills
37) Ensure functioning in all areas of support and operations, and get recognized as a leader in quality rice products in the industry
38) Perform other assignments from time to time as directed by the VP of Administration
Requirements
1) Degree (4 year) in a relevant field such as Food Science, Quality Management
2) Six Sigma, Lean and/or ISO certification (ASQ certified Quality Manager preferred)
3) Minimum 10 years of experience in quality systems management, continuous improvement and food production management
4) Knowledge of food quality standards and HACCP and food safety management
5) Expertise in applying progressive quality systems and tools (FMEA, Six Sigma, SPC, Lean, ISO, process audits, etc.)
6) Knowledge of and experience in trace/recall, critical process measurement, hazard analysis and product design/specifications
7) Ability to communicate at all levels in the organization via oral and written reports
8) Proficiency in MS Office
9) Excellent managerial, leadership and communication skills
10) Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
