About our client
Our client is a publicly owned manufacturer of seafood. The company has been in operation for more than 25 years and employs over 500 people.
Position Location
Product Manager Massachusetts
Salary Reports to
Highly competitive package, commensurate with experience Management
Responsibilities
1) Oversee all product management activities associated with key foodservice commodity lines of fish fillets and shrimp
2) Work within Marketing to facilitate optimal sales of commodity products within company’s broker-led sales network
3) Oversee inventory monitoring with procurement and related interactions with other departments to maximize commodity sales opportunities
4) Interact on a day-to-day basis with sales personnel on specific opportunities
5) Oversee list pricing and allowance decisions, new product development, product quality/specification interactions, sales communication and promotions
6) Interact with Sales and Marketing management on strategies and tactics related to new and existing products
7) Provide the company with insights on how specific commodity markets are evolving in terms of availability and price
8) Manage the weekly price list for commodity products by understanding changes in inventory costs and incoming POs to optimize product margins and sales
9) Develop the monthly forecast for all commodity items in the company portfolio based on sales history, input from the sales force and knowledge of customer purchasing activity
10) Keep track of inventories (current and anticipated) for all commodity items in portfolio to minimize shorts and inventory exposure
11) Work within marketing to develop new commodity products
12) Understand competitive set and finalize product specifications
13) Plan for inventory purchasing and arrival with procurement as well as develop marketing materials as well as pricing and promotional strategies
14) Develop monthly communication vehicles providing market insights on the commodity portfolio for sales and marketing
15) Serve as the main contact for our vendor partners to adhere to company supply contract provisions
16) Act as liaison on all commodity product issues with other departments such as procurement, quality assurance, sales, etc.
Requirements
1) Bachelor’s degree or higher
2) Minimum 3 years of experience in food industry (seafood preferred)
3) Experience in product management and tracking along with inventory skills
4) Experience in customer interaction and pricing (ability to price fish products)
5) Proficiency in spreadsheets and software applications
6) Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
7) Good communication (written and verbal) skills
