| Responsibilities |
1) Acquire products for supply 2) Develop new supplier relationships, including delivery of ongoing agreements 3) Ensure profitability and expansion of trade division 4) Lead product intelligence, including ongoing communication of product knowledge and market information to sales team 5) Know origin quality and destination market requirements for all products 6) Maintain frequent contact with suppliers and sales team by fax and phone with quotes and information 7) Ensure gross profit targets are met 8) Visit suppliers as necessary 9) Understand relationships among different products with regards to pricing, availability and marketing alternatives 10) Detect and identify market trends and seasonal influences and communicate the same to company’s trader network 11) Keep track of applicable raw material rates to provide accurate product costing 12) Know all origin alternatives for substitution of products where necessary 13) Position procurement within established limits and liquidating practices 14) Fully specify product and contract terms at time of purchase in writing to avoid disputes and claims 15) Participate in negotiating claims |
| Requirements |
1) Degree (4 year) preferred 2) 3+ years in Purchasing Supervisor/Manager role 3) Experience with “direct to fishery” purchasing 4) Knowledge of purchasing seafood containers on international level 5) Minimum 5-25 years’ experience preferred |
