About our client
Our client specializes in transporting and placing (both vertical and horizontal) heavy cargos for many industries including power plants, refineries, chemical plants as well as civil and offshore projects.

Senior Mechanical Engineer Columbia, SC
Salary Reports to

Responsibilities
1) Perform mathematical calculations to evaluate, select and test appropriate heavy lifting and transport operations
2) Create and/or check detailed engineering drawings to assist in fabricating new equipment or to document the dimensions and weights of existing equipment
3) Create and/or check detailed engineering drawings to support transportation and/or lifting activities
4) Provide training and guidance to project engineers
5) Work closely with all personnel in the Auxiliary Equipment and Fabrication Departments
6) Interact with employees at all levels of the Operations, Technical and Projects Department
7) Interact frequently with company clients
8) Calculate, evaluate, plan and create lifting and transportation drawings
9) Assist drafters and fabricators in developing effective engineering plans for heavy lift/heavy transport support materials (towers, beams, etc.)
10) Calculate and create drawings of new or existing auxiliary equipment
11) Assist Sales and Project managers in developing transportation and lifting drawings to quote, plan and execute heavy lift and heavy transportation activities
12) Update libraries of engineering drawings as per established systems
13) Provide an accurate accounting of billable hours worked for specific projects
14) Assist and train project engineers in the capabilities as well as limitation of the equipment and materials used in heavy lift and transport
15) Provide on-site support for field personnel, project managers and customers of the company during larger or more technical projects
16) Check the calculations and drawings made by project engineers
17) Perform other duties, as assigned by the Engineering Director
Requirements
1) BS in Mechanical Engineering
2) 3+ years of experience in heavy lift and/or heavy transport
3) Experience in AutoCAD or equivalent engineering/drafting software
4) Proficient in computers (word processing, spreadsheets and database)
5) SAP experience preferred
6) Experienced in working at a nuclear project/sight
7) In-depth knowledge of structural design and the strength of structures
8) Knowledge of the equipment, materials and techniques used to perform heavy lift and heavy transportation
9) Ability to work in a standard office environment and operate standard office equipment (computer, calculator, telephone, etc.)
10) Ability to sit for extended periods of time at a desk
11) Ability to respond to visual and audible instructions
12) Ability to perform light work (occasionally lifting, pushing and pulling 10 pounds)
