Position Location
Tooling Operations Manager DeKalb, IL
Salary Reports to

Responsibilities
1) Develop and maintain manufacturing operations business plans to include all program requirements, labor hours, waste reduction, safety, quality, production costs, and image
2) Provide input to the development of product strategy and research and development of new and emerging products.
3) Establish production and quality control standards, develops budget and cost controls, and obtains data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered
4) Provide guidance to the development of a manufacturing process plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs
5) Ensure all established safety, costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met
6) Coordinate manufacturing activities with all other functions of the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment
7) Review production and operating reports and directs the resolution of operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
8) Responsible for preventative maintenance process
9) Perform administrative activities associated with the effective management of shop operations, including compiling, storing, and retrieving production data for reports
10) Determine responsibilities of assigned organization and staff positions to accomplish business objectives
11) Train and ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations
12) Responsible for annual employee reviews
13) Development of annual budget and financial plan
14) Business travel expected to be less than 10%, however business conditions could create the need for an increased frequency
Requirements
1) BS or Technical degree; four to ten years of expanded foam molding tool building experience; manufacturing technical degree; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
2) Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
3) Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
4) Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
5) To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word processing software; Excel spreadsheet software; payroll systems, scheduling systems, CAD/CAM software, and Explorer internet software
6) Manages 7 to 9 direct reports. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
7) Prefer certification in Lean, Six Sigma Green Belt
